The cutest and most heatbreaking songs ever written..

The song that I think is the cutest song ever written is The Bealtes- I've Just Seen a Face- it's so simple and really short, just over 2 min long, but there is something about its innocence that makes it sooo adorable.

The most heartbreaking song ever written in my opinion, and a lot of people disagree with me, is Bob Dylan's If You See Her Say Hello. This song comes off of Dylan's album Blood on the Tracks, which is supposedly all about Dylan's divorce with his wife Sara. "If she's passing back this way I'm not that hard to find, tell her she can look me up if shes got the time" OHHH BOB! That's so pathetically sad.

Being Misunderstood Through the Years

I was recently listening to the Weezy album and came to the realization that the song Misunderstood (or Don't Let Be Misunderstood) is glorious in all forms!

Nina Simone- Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

The Animals- Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

Weezy- Misunderstood

Common- Misunderstood

Born Ruffians- Red, Yellow and Blue

The Born Ruffians are an awesome band apart of the ever popular indie movement coming out of Canada (hats off to America's hat). The album Red, Yellow and Blue is a very feel-good album and quickly came to define our summer. Although the entire album is good and you should definitely devote a good week of your life to listening to it here are some of our favorite tracks...

I Need a Life- one of the best songs of the year and a perfect anthem for those of us who get really hung over and don't like hearing shit from people, cause hey, we make it out at night! Fun fact: when first hearing the chorus Whit thought that the "oh but we go out at night part" was "all black people go out at night" while I thought it was "old white people go out at night", needless to say that is not what the song was about.

Foxes Mate for Life
- who doesn't like to picture a cute little fox couple loving each other forever, this song is cute as hell. And true!

Badonkadonkey- "I'll keep you in my pocket for when I get home!" This reminds me of a dream my friend Sarah had when she had to keep Angelina Jolie in her pocket.

Kurt Vonnegut- awesome song named after a cool person.

But seriously if you are taking our advice LISTEN TO THE WHOLE ALBUM ITS ALL GOOD!!

The Knife- Heartbeats

When I first heard this song I was really confused where it came from and what time period it belonged to, then I stopped caring and now I really enjoy it. Its from the Swedish electropop group the Knife and I think her accent makes the song way better.

Heartbeats- The video is cool too

Wu Tang Clan-36 Chambers

Ever since I (Sam) went to Ireland I have entered a phase of hip hop that I can not get out of (not that I want to). The forefront of this hip hop obsession is Wu Taaannng. I'm still new to the Wu Tang fanaticism and have only really become acquainted with 36 Chambers, but oh what an album. I love all of the songs on this album but here are my favorites.
Method Man- favorite lyric? "Ooh I be the super sperm, Chim chimmeny chim chim cherie,
Freak a flow and flow fancy free"
Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin to Fuck With- Its impossible not to feel bad ass when listening to this.
C.R.E.A.M- ahh the piano...

Best Album of 2009?? Why its Merriweather Post Pavilion!

We just wanted to add in our 2 cents about what was the best album of the year, and the honor obviously goes to one of our favorite bands Animal Collective! This album is phenomenal. If you are not used to Animal Collective listen to this album a couple times before you write it off, sometimes it takes people a little time before they see Animal Collectives' true beauty. Every song on this album is pretty much the most creative and beautiful thing you could ever do yourself the honor of listening too. Our favorite tracks on the album however are summertime clothes (if you haven't danced around to this song in warm weather at some point in your life TRY IT) and Brother Sport, which is actually the coolest music video we have ever seen. So if you were unfortunate enough to go through 2009 without this glorious album, stay calm and just make up for lost time by listening to it non stop.

Nurses!!!

We would like to thank our friend Caitie for introducing to a plethora of good modern music (we often get stuck in the seventies?) Nurses is one of the many bands she has graciously given us.
Nurses is a great band based out of Portland, OR. Their sound has been characterized by some as psychedelic folk we think of it more as what you might hear on a whimsical journey through the forests. Don't let that description turn you off, because Apple's Acre (the album we are recommending) is very good.
Turns our Apple's Acre is their second album to come out. And although the entire album is worth a listen here are some of our favorite tracks...
Lita- This song has a good beat and a pleasant story to the lyrics, even though we can't clarify that because we can't find the lyrics anywhere on the World Wide Web.
Technicolor-Great melody
Caterpillar Playground- the whistling is sick

What We Hope to Accomplish through out Misty Mountain Music Musings

So this weekend, the creators of this blog were trying to think of a business set up that would allow us (Whitney and Sam) to live in the glorious mountains of the northeast while still making a lot of money. The only thing we decided that was of value that we can give to the world is our music taste. It can be quite good at times. So, in hope to live a luxurious life in the mountains we have started this blog which will (obviously) become immensely popular and make us hillbillies rich. In the meantime we just honestly like telling people about what music we like and discovering new music ourselves. Each day we will put up an album or song that we find extremely enjoyable and that we hope you will find enjoyable as well.
So please read this religiously and tell all of your friends to read it so we can become extremely rich...and also relish in all the good music we are about to share with you, it has changed our lives and if you try it will probably change yours as well.
